"Empathy is an essential leadership skill, and there's nothing soft about it." - Prudy Gourguechon
In Building Bridges of Understanding & Allyship, participants receive a basic overview of Israel and Palestine through both Jewish and Palestinian perspectives.
After gaining a foundational understanding, co-facilitators will guide participants through prevalent misconceptions and harmful messaging relating to anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and anti-Arab racism. The session will close with providing language and practical strategies to support peers, hold multiple realities, and preserve a culture of inclusion.
Virtual 60-minute workshop co-led by Leading Experts on Faith-Based Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Learning Outcomes
Sessions are developed collaboratively with seasoned professionals from various faith traditions and cultures, including Jewish, Arab, and Muslim Americans with deep connections to the region's history and conflict. Together, we strive to deliver balanced perspectives that integrate cultural considerations and various perspectives.
False narratives, misinformation, and a lack of understanding have placed Arabs, Muslims, and Jews at an increased risk of being targeted for their religious beliefs and/or ethnic affiliation.
By understanding the root cause of antisemitism, anti-Arab racism, and anti-Muslim sentiments, we can rectify misperceptions and stereotypes while developing the capacity to combat them.
These virtual 90-minute workshops (delivered separately) offer a deeper exploration of the underlying causes of Islamophobia, anti-Arab racism, and antisemitism.
Learning Outcomes:
Be proactive in combatting antisemitism and Islamophobia inside and outside of the workplace today.
Note: While the majority of Palestinians identify as Muslim, we wish to recognize the religious diversity in Palestine and the Arab world at large. This workshop in no way seeks to conflate these diverse groups. For more information on the religious diversity in Israel and Palestine, visit 2022 Report on International Religious Freedom: Israel, West Bank and Gaza.
Facilitators adopt a trauma-informed, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach that begins with allowing distinct forums for healing and sharing. Facilitators represent the participant group to deliver culturally appropriate moderation.
Build the skills to engage in complex conversations, ask thoughtful questions, and practice reflective listening. Participants learn the principles of dialogue versus debate, and how to frame statements and questions that promote mutual understanding.
